Pinterest
Pinterest is a PLN that teachers can use to share ideas and lesson plans they have used through pinning them on designated, organized boards. Teachers can follow other teachers boards to get different ideas on anything from lesson ideas to how to decorate their classroom. Teachers can search "classroom themes" and tons of photos will pop up with inspiration about that topic. Pinterest gives teachers the ability to communicate and share ideas in a simple way.

YouTube
YouTube is a website that allows users to post videos for other people to see. If an teacher posts an online lecture on YouTube about a certain topic other teachers can pull from that and implement those tools into their classroom. YouTube is a big place for teachers to watch webinars to learn about different technologies in the classroom or learning techniques. Teachers can also watch things like Ted Talks on YouTube to get inspired in their teaching. They can also use YouTube videos about topics they are teaching about to help their students better understand the lesson being presented.

I really like that you brought up how diverse the resources on youtube are. It really is endless.
ReplyDeleteI love the points you made about Pinterest. Although I did not write about it, I love Pinterest and all of the different aspects to it. Just by typing in classroom, you would be able to see many different ways teachers have decided to organize their rooms and pull ideas from numerous sources. I also love the idea about lesson plans. With Pinterest expanding so much in the past few years, it would be a great place to see other people's lesson plans that are potentially more fun with room for creativity, rather than just having students read from a textbook.
ReplyDeleteI love these PLNs and even use both of them myself. I never thought about Pinterest as a PLN before but I love that it can be one! I like how you mentioned the ability to see online lectures and Ted Talks on YouTube!
ReplyDeletePinterest is such a great tool for teachers to use! It's easy to use for communication, just like Facebook or Twitter are. Not only that, but it's a great way for teachers to share ideas and create groups with each other! Youtube is also a great resource because of the infinite videos that are available for teachers to view. They can also comment on other teacher's videos and share their ideas easily. I totally agree with your point about Ted Talks, that's a great idea!
