1. As a student, Microsoft word has been a huge part of my education. I have used Word for as  long as I can remember for things from science projects in middle school to long research papers in college. In high school I took a computer class that focused on all the Microsoft programs and I was able to learn Word the easiest. I have seen my teachers use it for things like assignments, handouts or tests. Word is a program used by almost everyone in a school system, whether it be for writing a paper or creating a test.

2. As a student, I have always known about copyright and correctly citing my own work to not get any sort of plagiarism flag on my papers or assignments. It is so easy to copy and paste things from a website onto an assignment but it is important to make students aware that this is wrong. It is equivalent to copying your neighbors math test. As a teacher I would follow the concepts set forth by the CSMI's best practices. When developing my own materials I will make sure to give proper citation to copyrighted materials that I use in my classroom. I will collaborate with peers because there are so many good sources out there but I will make sure to add the correct attributions. When I am having my students create their own work I will allow them to utilize copyrighted sources, however they will still have to create their own work. The internet is a huge resource today, so taking that away from students is not fair but they do have to understand that the internet is not doing the work for them. They have to put the effort in and work hard.

3. One of the implementation issues from Chapter 9 is cyber bullying. This is an issue that many people face every day that becomes more prominent due to more technology that is seen in classrooms. One solution to cyber bullying is to set standard about bullying on the first day to school. To inform your students that bullying will not be tolerated whatsoever and there will be several consequences if it is found. Another implementation issue is freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is a right by our Constitution but becomes a grey area in our school system. Students are not allowed to say whatever they want and get away with it even though they have freedom of speech. One solution to this would be to explain guidelines to respectable speech during school to explain to students what type of language is tolerated and respected. Academic dishonesty is another big implementation problem. This is when students copy and paste someone else's work to submit it at his or her own. This is something that is very tempting as a student. It is easy and convenient but also illegal. A solution to prevent this would be to have students check their work before submitting it because sometimes students plagiarize without knowing it. They can simply put their work into google and if it comes up as someone else's work it has been plagiarized.  When students do research it is important to explain to students how to correctly use someone else's words without plagiarizing it. This can be explained in the classroom as a lesson.

Teachers and students use technology in the classroom to better the time they have to learn or teach. Technology is a huge way that teachers communicate and facilitate their lessons. Having access to technology opens so many doors in the classroom to benefit the individuals. Teachers are influenced by their time to use technology because it utilizes their time efficiently. Students use technology to complete assignments through research or to communicate with their teachers.

The ISTE standards promote future learners in our digital age. It gives teachers and students standards to be the best educator or learner they can when they are surrounded by technology in the classroom. One standard that is meaningful to me includes learner. A learner is someone who is constantly learning through peers and other resources to better their ability to be an educator. Constantly being open to new ways to use technology or just ways to teach students is so important as a future educator. One standard that is kind of outside my skill set is being an analyst. An analyst includes providing alternative ways to teach students. I am someone that likes to stick to a routine that works. I will have to break this habit to become an analyst and learn to use technology.

I somewhat agree with the label of digital natives. Children are very knowledgeable about technology today however some grow up in different backgrounds. Some children do not have the resources other students have to become this digital native. A digital native is someone that has grown up around technology. Natives know how to use it and are not hesitant when they see a new form of technology. I have seen a difference between native and immigrants. I had a professor who did not use blackboard and would print out our grades and tape them to the board at the end of class. This was frustrating because I did not have a way to communicate with him. I think technology is going to continue to improve through the years and children are going to be more tech savvy as I get older. I will just have to keep up with the trends and learn the new ways technology is used.

1. Technology has always been a big part of my life. In middle school I took a typing class that was one of the most helpful classes I have ever taken. In high school, I took web design and other technologically based classes and always did well. I think that I am pretty competent in figuring out how to work a computer or other forms of technology. I enjoy making power point presentations because I can be creative. I have become the individual in my family that everyone asks for computer help. However, I can get frustrated by technology when it does not work.

2. In this class, I hope to learn more about excel. Out of all the office programs I tend to understand excel the least. I would also like to learn about more programs that I can utilize in the classroom. There are so many forms of technology that many people do not know about such as the websites used in today's class. I would like to learn how to utilize the technology I have access to in the best way possible. I would also like to learn about the impacts that technology has on our students today - both positively and negatively. I think the research done on technology through schools is very interesting and would like to learn more of that.

3. After taking the quiz about learning styles I learned that I utilize all the different strategies when I learn. Most of my scores were around the same number there was not one that was much higher than the others. Active learning had my highest score (only differing one point from the others) and that makes sense to me because I enjoy actively learning and explaining concepts. I enjoy the classes where the teacher does more than just read from their lectures. Whenever I need help understanding a concept I break it down and try to explain it out loud to attempt to teach it to myself.
